Fantastic stay this new year. Clean, cosy and festive. All staff very attentive. Sam the bar man helpful and polite. The bed was so comfy I didn't want to leave. Perfect location for walks. Ashness bridge, spectacular views. Well worth a visit. Derwentwater is one of my favourite to walk around keswick not far for a mooch round the shops. Looking forward to going back soon
Great hotel been staying here for last 9 years. This year romeo and Stephanie went above and beyond to help us stay here after a problem with bell scaring the dog .they turned it off for 5 days so dog was not scared. Truly appreciate what they did. We had our 5 day holiday with no problem. A big thank you to those two. And all other staff who we met. Excellent hotel 5 stars.
I chose The Mary Mount Hotel after a suggestion on booking.com. I was visiting Keswick to do a couple of walks. Threlkeld to Keswick & a visit to Ladore Falls near the hotel. The setting is stunning & my room looked out over Derwentwater. The room was beautiful & housekeeping do an amazing job. I didn't visit the restaurant or bar with my room being enough for this visit. Breakfast was included with a good buffet style selection & food to order. I was disappointed in the service & I had to approach staff to order things, this was confusing as I'd watched others being served around me. The setting of the dinning room made up for this with stunning views. There is other accommodation on site aswell as the hotel. I travelled by train to Penrith & then a bus from Keswick to the hotel. A great base for exploring this fantastic area.
Great hotel at the price point. Stayed at the Lodge which is next to the main entrance and comprises of two bedrooms and a spacious lounge. The location of the hotel is really fantastic. It has extensive views over the lake to Catbells and even has its own jetty to take the ferry around the lake and to Keswick. Breakfast and dinner were to a really high standard and although it’s probably a 3/4 star hotel it does have some really premium elements. Would stay again.
Absolutely one of the best locations for everything Lake District. If you are here for 3 days like we were, you don't have to drive from the hotel to see anything. You can fill your days within walkable distance. Absolutely gorgeous rooms and lovely service. The three things you should see are the Lodore Falls (waterfall) which is about a 10-15 minute walk, Derwentwater (the lake behind the hotel which you could also walk around), and the Surprise View cliff. It was a very easy walk for beginners. No precarious or slippery footing even after there was rainfall. However, once you get to the view, turn around and walk back through way you came. The signage wasn't clear for us on our way back and we ended up getting turned around. We ended up on an expert level path that I wouldn't recommend to beginners. Don't be dismayed if it's raining when you start your walk. You're in England. It'll likely be gone in a an hour (which is was). I recommend bring a lunch with you to the top and having a picnic. No tables there but there was a bench or two. You can also drive up there. The road wasn't on the cliff edge at any point and it was relatively wide. Coming back to the hotel, the free breakfast was lovely and I have no complaints about anything.
Stayed for 2 nights on 24th and 25th of Jan for my wifes birthday. Bril room with amazing views over derwent water. The staff at the hotel are amazing especially Maria and Sam. Definitely stay there again. All the best to the staff. Bant Latham.
Stopped at the Mary Mount Hotel for a quick lunch while my wife and I were doing a 16km hike around Derwentwater. The location and views are absolutely lovely and it’s a great place to take a break. However, the service let it down a bit — I waited at the bar for nearly five minutes to order food as there was no one around. With better service, it could have been a much nicer experience.
Lovely place with great views looking over Derwentwater Had a lovely time here, enjoyed all that was on offer. Staff are really friendly and always on hand to help. Breakfast was really good and the meals in the evening Where of a good price? Drinks are a little on the expensive side The separate bar in the evening was really good. Apart from chairs been a little uncomfortable
